The MXR Flanger/Doubler recreates the original MXR rack unit in pedal form, authentically capturing classic all-analog flanger and doubler effects featured on hallmark recordings from the ’70s and ’80s. It’s designed for experimenters, offering the tools to blend and bend your signal into your own rich, multi-layered textures. Equipped with authentic bucket-brigade devices and the original control set, this pedal preserves a wide range of textures, letting you chase timeless tones or sculpt unique soundscapes that push boundaries and carve out new dimensions in your tonal universe.

The MXR Flanger/Doubler is built around two distinct voices. The flanger effect produces sweeping jet-engine motion and metallic resonance, adding movement and drama to your tone. The doubler effect thickens up your signal with a slightly offset second track layer to create chorusing effects or even a short, tightly dialed slapback delay.

Use the Doubler button to choose between the two, and then use the Manual, Width, and Speed controls to shape the tone, range of motion, and sweep rate of the effect. Intensity is controlled by the Regen knob, which uses feedback to take the modulation from smooth, mellow coloration to aggressive, metallic resonance. Once you’ve dialed in your core sound, the Mix knob stands ready to blend your wet and dry signals to taste, from fully dry to fully wet.
